“Small changes in buying habits can make big differences…Becoming a less energy dependent nation may just need to start with a good breakfast†– Steven L. Hopp, Animal Vegetable Miracle
Do you know when different fruits or vegetables are in season?
Walk around your local farmer’s market and you’ll quickly learn that bananas, ginger, and many other fresh foods that we eat regularly aren’t in season or aren’t grown locally in the Bay Area.
Now I am not suggesting that you toss out the whole pantry, but maybe try to cook one meal a week with food from the market.
And, it can be a fun adventure for the whole family! They give out fresh samples – peaches, blueberries, and strawberries have made delicious appearances recently.
Who knew fruit could taste so good? Mmmmmm, I am getting hungry just thinking about it. Farmer’s markets are open year round or seasonally. I am lucky to live near two year-round farmer’s markets in San Mateo and Belmont.
